Dr. Izzy

Dr. Izzy is a singer…many fans already know that Dr. Izzy is alsoBLIND. “I always tell people ‘There are so many ways too see’, she says, “You can feel peoples’ energy, discern their mood, through their voices and through the touch of their hand”. She adds, “I love to go up into the mountains here in Colorado. I can’t see them, but I can smell them! I think I remember what things actually look like, but there’s no way for me to really know at this point. I think I remember what colors look like, but who knows if I’m correct. I know what my minds eye tells me, so that’s what I have to go by”.

Born with full vision in Texas, she began to go blind at age nine. She grew up in Texas and rural New Mexico. “Certain things are imbedded in my memory from when I could see. I remember watching my Grand-Aunt Verna cut fried chicken with a knife and fork, and being appalled that we ate fried chicken with our fingers. My dad stuck up for us, telling her we were from Texas, and that was how we ate fried chicken in Texas”.

Singing is also something they do a lot of in Texas. From an early age her parents encouraged her to sing. “I remember being very young and my father got my sister and me to sing for my Aunts. I memorized a whole song, not a kid’s song, a grown up song. I remember thinking it was neat that I knew all the words”. Singing and memorizing lyrics at an early age would later prove to serve her well. Izzy was born with a beautiful voice, and she began to sing for a living in cover bands at the age of 18; singing a variety of musical styles. “Since I couldn’t see to read lyrics, memorizing words just seemed natural to me. I really loved to sing so much that it never was a problem, it’s just what I had to do”. Check out more on Dr. Izzy here: Drizzyband.com

EG Kight

A veteran of the road, EG KIGHT (pronounced Kite) has taken her diverse musical menu to the fans across America and in Europe, headlining at clubs, theaters and festivals. Long considered one of the few true blues vocalists, with her own blend of americana, southern rock, blues, pop, jazz, gospel and funk, she is helping to shape contemporary blues. With her rich voice, and a mastery of the guitar that has her holding her own next to any other player, Kight mesmerizes audiences of all ages. And Taylor Guitars proudly provides her with the tools of her trade.

As a songwriter, Kight recently had a song on “The Fosters” on the ABC Family channel. She has had a song on Nick at Nite, and one song was used on the Children’s Miracle Network for several years in a row.

Kight has been nominated for the 2015 Blues Music Awards Koko Taylor Award, she landed on the AXS.com list of Top 5 Best Blues Artists of 2014, and her latest album landed on the Blues Bytes 2014 Top 10 Albums list, and the Roots Music Report’s Top 100 Blues Album Chart for 2014. She was also nominated for two 2012 Blues Blast awards, and has six previous BMA nominations, twice for Song of the Year.

Many artists have recorded her songs, and three artists who were nominated for a 2013 Blues Music Award had one of EG Kight’s songs on their albums, including the legendary Dorothy Moore, Bob Margolin, and the late Ann Rabson. She’s had songs on two of Koko Taylor’s Grammy-nominated albums, and on two compilations that maintained Billboard chart positions for over a year.

Kight has appeared on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion, and one song from her segment was re-broadcast on the Listener’s Choice Program. LIP SERVICE, her 2011 release, landed in the #1 spot at radio, and IT’S HOT IN HERE climbed to #1 on the Roots Charts. And in 2013, Kight received the Georgia Music Legend Award.

And on her new album, A NEW DAY, released in September, she infuses her “country-flavored southern-fried blues” with a little gospel to create her most inspiring venture to date.

Kight is grateful to be alive, and to continue making music. A near-death illness a few years back transformed her music into a more positive shade of blue. The songs she writes now seem to be coming from a deeper place, and they have a broader reach. Fans will find a new facet of her music on this album.

Long known as the “Georgia Songbird”, Kight lives in the heart of Georgia on 65 acres that have been in her family for four generations. She’s always been an animal lover, and enjoys raising her pet goats.

Sturgis and Mandy

Mandy Lemons sings the blues with an astonishing powerhouse voice which mixes original southern fried soul and northern attitude. She hails from one of the blues ‘capitals’ of the world, Houston Texas, home of the late great Lightnin’ Hopkins. Her mother exposed her to Billie Holiday at an early age, which made a lasting impression. You will be astonished to hear so much power coming out of such a small figure, and you can clearly hear the influences of Koko Taylor, Etta James, Big Mama Thornton, Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse. Her performances are visually and emotionally dramatic, approaching legendary status. C. Michael Bailey, All About Jazz (Nov 11, 2014) says “...Lemons is a tornadic force of nature laying waste to all of the blues-rock produced since the 1960s...This band, following its mistress Lemons' lead, is a feral and untethered spirit that makes its musical statement like the basement door slamming in the dark, off its hinges”.
